Sport News: Arsenal Invincibles vs Man City Ashley Cole Believes it’s a No Contest!

Manchester City’s devastating start to the season has seen them draw comparisons with the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ side that went the entire 2003/2004 campaign unbeaten, but Ashley Cole says the great Gunners class still stands above any side in the Premier League.

The former England defender Cole is persona non grata with Arsenal fans after ditching the club for Chelsea for a massive pay rise.

But he might have won a few friends back at the Emirates by insisting Arsenal’s undefeated 2003-04 team would beat Pep Guardiola’s current record-breaking team, Sun writes.

Speaking in a recent interview on ESPN, Cole said: “I think the ‘Invincibles’ would win. No bias.

“I’m not sure about the similarities. But so far they have the zero for losses, so you can compare on that front.

“They’ve clicked and connected. But it’s tough to go 38 games unbeaten. Can they do it? Who knows but it’s looking good for them so far.”

While many commentators are of the opinion that City – on a run of 11 consecutive league wins – can replicate Arsene Wenger’s former side and go the entire campaign unbeaten, manager Guardiola sees things differently.

“We are going to lose, that is going to happen. Definitely,” he said after his side’s narrow comeback 2-1 win away at Huddersfield over the weekend.

“Today was so close that it’s going to happen.

“Playing one day a week, maybe I would tell you it would be difficult to drop points.

“But when you play every three days, when you see the schedule for December and January – now we go to [Shakhtar] Donetsk to play the Champions League – it’s impossible.

“We are going to lose but how we react during that game and after the game. That is important.”

Next up for City is a home tie against Southampton as they look to restore their eight-point Premier League lead.
