SPORT NEWS-Manchester City vs Southampton Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Manchester City are by far the best team in the Premier League, and at the weekend they showed they have the luck of champions as well. They faced a brave Huddersfield side who put everything into the game, only to lose it late on thanks to a strangely deflected and lucky goal for Raheem Sterling.

This continued Manchester City’s phenomenal run of wins. They haven’t dropped a point in either the Premier League or Champions League since their 1-1 draw with Everton in August, and that has given them an eight point lead at the top of the table.

The win over Huddersfield made it 11 wins on the bounce in the league, and the 42 goals they have netted in their 13 Premier League games is 14 more than nearest competitors Manchester United. To add to that, they have the second best defensive record in the league too, so it’s going to take something extremely special to stop them.

Southampton could be mistaken for being an especially talented side based on their weekend result, but whilst they performed well, their 4-1 win over Everton was more a case of The Toffees completely giving up partway through the second half.

In actual fact, Southampton are having a really tough season. They sit 10th in the table but have lost four of their last eight, and in total they have scored just 13 goals this season. Seven of those have come from two games, meaning the other 11 matches have seen them find the net just 6 times.

Away from home they have won just once this season and scored a total of three goals, and now they come face to face with a Manchester City side who are even more unstoppable at The Etihad. The hosts have won five of their six home games, scoring a huge 24 goals in the process.

Four of these six games have been won by more than a two goal margin as well, and considering Southampton’s last trip away was a 3-0 loss at Liverpool, backing Manchester City -2 Handicap looks a good bet, along with a comprehensive 4-0 correct score predictions.

We’re also backing Raheem Sterling to get on the scoresheet. The English winger has scored 12 goals in just 16 appearances this season, seven of which have come in his seven home games, so backing him to find the net is the best option.
